What Banksy and Shepard Fairey Reminded Me About the Power of Graphic Design

I recently visited the The Art of Banksy Exhibition in Sydney, and I walked out thinking less about street art and more about communication. That might sound strange at first. Banksy is often discussed through the lens of rebellion, anonymity, anti-establishment politics, or spectacle. But standing in front of those works especially as someone who runs a creative graphic design agency what struck me most was how incredibly effective the work is from a design perspective. Hazelhurst Arts Centre

One of our designers Andrea, recently discovered the joys of Hazelhurst Arts Centre in Gymea, south of Sydney. Tucked away in this quiet little suburb of the Sutherland Shire, this historic house-come-art gallery is a little-known gem. Andrea took a stroll around the lush gardens and snooped in the windows of the many glass-doored art studios and watched the kids get creative in their school holiday art workshops. After a coffee frappe (with impressive espresso ice cube) she had a wander through the current exhibition which was a very interesting exploration of feminism and surrealism.
