We produced the first Annual Report for the NRFC after their inception in September 2023. They were formed by the Federal Government to steward the investment of $15 billion of taxpayer money to finance growth areas of the economy. They operate within strict parameters to balance risk and return and to ensure that Australia’s investment portfolio has a positive impact on the economy and society. For example, they aim to contribute to net zero, create jobs, improve economic participation for under-represented groups and support regional development. These themes needed to come across in the design of their first Annual Report. The logo, a simple style guide and a Corporate Plan document were designed by Frost* to kick off the branding.
The client entrusted Fresco Creative with the task to expand this brand architecture through the creation of their first Annual Report. We concepted this publication in line with the established design principles and pushed the boundaries where there was just cause. We pride ourselves on our ability to adhere to strict brand guidelines and to still create an interesting, engaging, creative and easy-to-read publication. With the client’s input we re-organised the content, created infographics and timelines, templated “Key activities” pages to appear once in each chapter, converted dry statistics into brightly coloured charts and incorporated images that conveyed the broad scope of their work. We completed accessibility tagging on this document to be compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA standards, including complex tables and alt tag copywriting. The client was very happy with the final printed document and even chose to print extra copies.
